This is AMAZING!
Running to the elevator, she was already late on her first day. The door was closing, but she was going to make it. Pushing through the doors she spilled her coffee all over a man standing in the elevator.
"Shit, oh my god, I am so sorry." She said, rushing to the ground, trying to find a napkin in her purse.
"It’s fine, I hated these shoes anyway." His voice was warm.
She looked up at him, her cheeks were still flushed with embarrassment, but he was smiling down at her. “I’m still so sorry. I’m running late on my first day; I should have been more careful.”
He reached down to help her up, “Really, miss it’s okay.”
"Olivia," she corrected. She wasn’t a miss, she didn’t want to come off as young, naive. She hadn’t even had the chance to put up her facade. She was supposed to be tough, not clumsy, and definitely not apologetic.
"Pope? Are you Olivia Pope?"
She was surprised, and a questioning smile crept across her face. “How’d you know?”
"I’m Fitzgerald Grant. I think you’re running late to find me."
Her eyes widened at the mention of his name. Fitzgerald Grant - THE Fitzgerald Grant whom she was assigned by her new boss to work on a case with. It was a case involving two teenaged boys who were being accused of robbing a liquor store in the middle of the night, even though witnesses’ claims stated otherwise. It was coming down to a ‘he said’ ‘she said’ argument that would be tough to prove thanks to unreliable cameras and a DA hellbent on using the kids as examples for the rest. It was a case she was eager to work on and one Grant had volunteered to be lead defense attorney for, for free.
"Mr. Grant, I’m so sorry. I’m already running late and now I’ve spilled coffee on you - "
"Please, call me Fitz." Suddenly he reached in to hug her, momentarily taking her by surprise. His arms were strong around her making her heart jump as she inhaled the masculine scent of his cologne. It was intoxicating and she quickly found herself easily sinking into it.
He pulled back to find a dazed look on her face and she instantly found him blushing as well.
"I’m sorry, I have a tendency to be overly affectionate. I grew up with four sisters so I kind of got used it…" He trailed off appearing shy in front of her and she realized then that she didn’t know what else to say. She didn’t want just tell him it was okay, that she’d enjoyed it, that he was welcome to hug her again anytime if he wanted. She was afraid to be so bold, but she didn’t want to scare him off either.
"It’s okay," she smiled. "I can be pretty affectionate too sometimes."
He smiled back at her, a minute of silence lingering between them before she felt his finger tips barely brushing the front of her coat and snapping back into the palms of his hands.
"Now I got coffee on you," he pointed out and she looked down at herself to find a few drops of liquid that had transferred onto her top with the hug he’d given her.
"I guess we’re even now," she laughed taking the handkerchief he was offering to her and wiping the coffee off.
"I think you missed a spot," he said after a moment of watching her intently trying to get the stain completely off.
"Where?" She looked over herself.
"Right there," he pointed to her side.
"Where?" She repeated not finding anything.
"There," he pointed further around her hip. "Don’t you see it?"
She twisted her body further around, not finding anything, until she realized what was happening.
"You’re teasing me," she told him putting her hands on her hips and staring him down. He laughed at her accusation.
"I am," he confessed. "But don’t you feel less nervous now?" His eyes danced mischievously…
ETonline scored an exclusive clip from YOLO that features a bewildered Olivia (learning your presumed dead parent is alive will do that to a lady) calling Huck for advice. Which, ironically, is the first thing he advises her not to do. Watch!
Scandalairs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on ABC.
